Stick Puck Life exists for the love of inline hockey. It's a small sport, and for many players, access to coaches, rinks, and regular training can be quite limited. Stick Puck Life aims to bridge that gap – helping players and teams level up with flexible options and a bit of “out-of-the-rink” thinking.
If Stick Puck Life were a person, it would be:
Supportive – creating a learning environment where you feel safe to try, fail, and try again.
Personalized – building drills and sessions around your skills, goals, and level.
In it for the long game – focused on keeping you in the sport, enhancing your hockey IQ, and ultimately helping you give back too.
Currently, Stick Puck Life manifests through:
Hockey blogs – honest, practical stories and tips about playing, coaching, and parenting in the sport.
Coaching – for individuals and teams looking to build confidence, structure, and game sense.
Merch and creative projects – a fun way to showcase your love of inline hockey on and off the rink.
We’ve already established a small but strong community in South East Queensland, Australia. Meanwhile, in Europe, North America, and South-East Asia, inline hockey seems to be booming. We’re not quite there yet in Australia – much of the growth here still relies on passionate volunteers.
Stick Puck Life is my way of using my skills to shine a light on our sport, help it grow, and give back to the community that has given me so much.
I grew up playing inline hockey as a junior back in the 90s. I had some wonderful coaches who made the game fun, welcoming, and a place where I could belong – especially as a kid who didn’t really fit into the “usual” Australian sports.
Back then, the sport was booming: clubs all over Queensland! In SEQ you could travel from the Sunshine Coast down to Lismore, across to Toowoomba - there were juniors in every division, with full men’s and women’s leagues. Then life happened. I stepped away from the sport for about 20 years.
And then my daughter, at age seven, discovered inline hockey.
That pulled me straight back in – not just as a player, but as a coach and a storyteller for the sport. Now, I coach because I love watching people enjoy hockey – seeing them build the confidence to play, compete, and feel like they truly belong on the rink.
My coaching and content for my hockey blog are built around three core beliefs:
1. Everyone should get to enjoy hockey – games, training, tournaments, the whole puck life experience.
2. Learning should feel supported, not scary – I aim for a training environment that builds determination and resilience, not fear of mistakes.
3. This is about longevity, not quick fixes – I want you to build skills and habits that keep you in the sport for years, and eventually help you give back too.
When you train with me or read my stick puck content, I want you to walk away thinking:
“There’s a place for me in this sport. I’m not the only one who feels this way. I’m supported, I’m allowed to ask questions, and I’m part of something that people genuinely care about growing.”
That’s the whole point of Coach Benny and Stick Puck Life.
So who is Stick Puck Life actually for?
Juniors and seniors who are new or fairly new to the sport and want to build the basics quickly and confidently. Players who want to step into local competition without feeling lost or out of their depth. Teams looking to enhance their competitive impact with tailored drills and a structure that aligns with how they actually play.
If you’re interested in coaching – whether for yourself, your kid, or your team – but you’re unsure which option fits best, just reach out. Send me an email or message me on socials, and we’ll discuss it together. Most things are possible, and I’d prefer to have a chat rather than let you guess.
If you engage with Stick Puck Life – read the hockey blog, follow us on social media, dive into some coaching sessions, or perhaps grab some merch – here’s what I hope changes for you over the next 6–12 months:
You feel more confident in your game. You feel more connected to the inline hockey community. You can see a clearer pathway for yourself, your kid, or your team in the sport. And most importantly: you’re still enjoying your Stick Puck Life.
